The Challenge Terms and Conditions
How to enter The Challenge
- Information on how to enter The Challenge (the competition) forms part of the
terms and conditions of entry. Entry into the Competition is deemed acceptance of
these terms and conditions.
- To enter the competition The Challengers (the Competitors) must be 35 years
of age and under, employed and resident in the UK.
- The Competition is organised by Australian Business (UK Company Number 1974245) of
Australia Centre, Strand London WC2B 4LG (telephone number: +44 (0) 20 7099 8444),
Allegra Strategies Ltd. (UK company number: 3645920), No.1 Northumberland Ave, Trafalgar
Square, London. WC2N 5BW (the Organisers). The major sponsor of the competition
is Qantas Airways Limited (ABN 16 009 661 901) of 395-403 King Street, Hammersmith,
London W6 9NJ (Qantas). The Organisers, Qantas are the Competition Sponsors.
- The Competition commences at 7.00am GMT on 19 April 2010 and closes at 5.30pm GMT
on 09 November 2010 (the Competition Period).
- The application process commences at 09.00am GMT on 19 April 2010 and closes at 5.30pm
on 30 June 2010 (the application period).
- Entry is open only to people residing in the United Kingdom during the Competition
Period (Competitors), excluding directors, management, employees and their
immediate families of the Competition Sponsors and their related bodies corporate
and registered travel companions of employees of the Competition Sponsors and their
related bodies corporate.
- To enter, Competitors must during the application Period: complete the online Competition
form at australinabusiness.co.uk/thechallenge; or provide a written copy of all
the details requested in the online entry form to Australian Business by 5.30pm
GMT on 30 June 2010.
- The Competition Sponsors are not responsible for any lost, late or misdirected entries
or forms.
- Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted by the Competition Sponsors. A written
request for feedback on an application can be made before 03 July 2010. Postal Address:

- The teams are selected by the Competition Organisers and any decision they make on
selection is final and not for discussion.
How is the Competition decided?
- There will be one overall winner of the Competition and one winning team.
Evaluation of the Competitors and teams performance at organising each event will
be compiled by the Organisers mentors (the Mentors). The overall winner and winning
team will then be considered by a panel of judges to decide the Competition winner.
In deciding the Competition winner, the panel of judges will review the mentors
notes and any supporting documentation or material (whether provided by the Competitors
or not) for each Competitor. The panel of judges is to be made up of representatives
of the Competition Sponsors. The decision of the panel of judges is final and no
correspondence will be entered into.
- The panel of judges will make its decision on or before 07 November 2010 at Qantas,
395-403 King Street, Hammersmith, London W6 9NJ.
- The Competition winner will be announced at the Competition presentation (expected
to be held on 08 November 2010 at Australia House, The Strand, London WC2B 4LA).
Please note, the date and venue of the Competition presentation is subject to change.
The winner of the Competition will also be published on australianbusiness.co.uk
on 10 November 2010.
- The Competition Sponsors reserve the right, in their absolute discretion, to declare
any entry ineligible if the Competitor is unable to promote the Competition in a
satisfactory manner and in accordance with these terms and conditions. If the Competition
winner’s entry is declared ineligible, the Competition Sponsors may declare a supplementary
Competition winner at their absolute discretion, subject to any written direction
under applicable law.
The Competition winner’s prize
- The overall Competition winner will receive two (2) Qantas Economy class
return air tickets from London Heathrow to Australia – either Sydney or Melbourne
(Prize Travel).
- Prize Travel is subject to availability. Bookings must be made by 31st January 2011
and tickets issued by Qantas at least 14 days before departure. Prize Travel must
depart between November 2010 – 30 June 2011 (excluding black out dates). Flight
departures ex UK are not permitted between: 10 December 2010 – 15 January 2011,
and 20 April – 26 April 2011 inclusive. Prize Travel must be from London to Sydney
or Melbourne via the most direct routing (as identified by Qantas). Prize Travel
is valid on Qantas services only. They are not valid for travel on code-share or
regional services operated by Qantas subsidiaries. The winner and his/her travel
companion must travel together on the same flights on all sectors. An upgrade cannot
be purchased on these tickets with cash or Frequent Flyer points. Frequent Flyer
points cannot be accrued on these tickets.
- Prize Travel does not include travel insurance, passports, visas, meals, taxes not
included in the price of the ticket, ground transportation or any other costs of
a personal nature not specifically stated. Compliance with any health or other government
requirements is the responsibility of the Competition winner and their travel companion.
Prize travel is subject to Qantas’ General Conditions of Carriage.
- Prize Travel must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if the Competition
winner is unable to use prize Travel as stated. The winner is responsible for obtaining
all necessary travel documents (eg passport, visa). Prize Travel is not exchangeable
or redeemable for cash or other goods or services. Award Travel cannot be transferred
to any other person, unless agreed to by Qantas. There can be no changes made to
Prize Travel once tickets are issued. If Prize Travel is not used within the specified
timeframe, Prize Travel will be forfeited.
- The Prize Travel is non-refundable, non-transferable and not redeemable for cash or
other goods or services. Prize is subject to Qantas Airways Limited booking conditions.
Bookings must be made and tickets issued by Qantas Airways Limited. Qantas Airways
Limited, its related bodies corporate and their respective officers, employees,
contractors and agents will not be liable for any loss, damage or personal injury
whatsoever (including but not limited to direct, indirect and consequential loss)
suffered or sustained in connection with the use of this prize, except for any liability
which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the
minimum allowable by law).
The Award winner’s promotional responsibilities
- Competitors must attend the Competition presentation.
- Unless it would create a conflict of interest for the Competition winner, upon the
request of the Competition Sponsors, the Competition winner agrees to attend up
to four (4) Competition promotional events in the 12 month period after the Competition
winner has been selected (Promotional Appearance). The Competition Sponsors must
give the Competition winner at least 14 days notice of the time, date and location
of each Promotional Appearance. In recognition of the Competition winner's schedule,
the Competition Sponsors must ensure that the time, date and location of each Promotional
Appearance does not interfere with the Competition winner's business or personal
commitments.
- During each Promotional Appearance, the Competition winner agrees to verbally endorse
the Competition Sponsors in accordance with the instructions provided by any of
the Competition Sponsors.
- During the 12 month period after the Competition winner has been selected, the Competition
winner must not involve themselves in any conduct or activity that may harm the
Competition Sponsors, including the name and reputation of any of the Competition
Sponsors or Competition Organisers.
Why does Allegra Strategies collect personal information in connection with the
Competition?
- On behalf of Australian Business, Allegra Strategies collects personal
information in connection with the Competition to: a. to coordinate and promote
the Competition; b. to assess the Competitors; and c. to notify successful applicants
that they will be competing in the competition
- Those details may be used for promotional activity and in the following year’s Competition
for a period of 12 months after the winner has been selected. For example, Competitors
may be contacted to invite them to participate in the following year’s Competition.
The Award winner’s details will be used in promotion of the Competition and in the
following year's Competition.
What are the main kinds of personal information collected?
- The information collected by the Competition Sponsors in connection with
the Competition is: a. For Competitors: names, addresses, contact details, age,
biographical information provided by the organisers and obtained through independent
research
- Competitors will be contacted by the Organisers to: a. confirm they have successfully
applied for the competition
- Entry details, including copies of supporting documentation, remain the property of
the Competition Sponsors. If a Competitor advises that they do not wish to participate
in the Competition, then their personal information will be destroyed.
Who do the Competition Sponsors make this personal information available to?
- This personal information may be made available to: a. Competition Sponsors
employees, contractors, consultants; b. The Mentors, who will adjudicate the Competition
and provide the Judges with their event notes and recommendations; and c. The panel
of judges who will review the event notes and recommendations and select the winner.

Competitors consent to Qantas or the Organisers disclosing their personal details
to any Nominee which they nominated for the Award.
- Personal information may only be made available to parties other than those listed
above if Qantas notifies the person of the intended broader use of that information
at any time prior to the broader use (and does not receive a negative response from
the person), or specifically obtains consent for the use.
- Competitors consent to the Competition Sponsors using personal information provided
in connection with the Competition for the purposes of facilitating the conduct
of the Competition and to conduct marketing activities.
- Unless otherwise required by law, Competition Sponsors will not use personal information
for any other purpose, and will not disclose personal information without consent.
For how long is personal information kept?
- Details of Competitions will be kept for 12 months after the winner has
been selected. Details of the winning team and overall individual winner will be
kept for 24 months after the winner has been selected.
Other important information about the Competition
- If any act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the
reasonable control of the Competition Sponsors and which prevents the Competition
Sponsors from complying with these terms and conditions, the Competition Sponsors
will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligations
and the Competition Sponsors reserve the right (subject to any applicable law) to
cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Competition.
- The Competition Sponsors, their related bodies corporate and their respective officers,
employees and agents will not be liable for any loss, damage or personal injury
whatsoever (including but not limited to direct, indirect and consequential loss),
suffered or sustained in connection with this Award, the promotion of this Competition
or any prize, except for any
